How It All Started
The idea for Skate Patch originated during the Covid lock down period. I had taken up skating as means to have fun and get some exercise. I loved the creativity and hard work it took to progress learning tricks. But as I was trying to spend as much time as I could on my board my shoes were always the weakest link. Without doubt they were always the first thing the break or need to be replaced. The idea of skating being a low cost hobby was starting to wane as I was tearing through skate shoes, some times in a matter of days.
I reached the point were I couldn't justify spending that amount of money on new shoes every other day and started to look online for repair kits or repair ideas. I came away from this feel dissapointed and frustrated with the lack of products that were available. I wanted a solution that would last longer than the current skate session you were on. With this in mind I had the idea to create my own!
I tried various "strong" materials, duct tape, vegan leather, industrial grade fabrics, synthetic leathers. Non of them worked long enough or were sturdy enough to withstand the punishment skate shoes take, and no wonder! We're literally scraping our shoes against sand paper! After months of testing and obsession I finally found a combination of materials that I would be proud to offer to my fellow skaters as a product that will give your shoes a new lease of life and will save you money in a world where skate shoes are selling at an all time high.
